Severe Weather Threat Saturday Night and Sunday. Threat primarily during the overnight hours into early Sunday. Hazards: Damaging wind gusts in excess of 70mph. Threat level 2 to 3 out of 5. Timing for NW areas 10PM Sat – 7AM Sun, central, coastal areas 1AM Sun through 1PM Sun. Large hail up to one inch in diameter or larger. A few tornadoes can be expected. Medium confidence in storm coverage, timing and intensity.
At or near record heat continues. Baton Rouge, New Orleans and Gulfport can expect highs in the 80’s, upper 80’s for Baton Rouge and New Orleans. Dry Thursday, some showers around Friday and storms late Saturday.
Southeasterly winds will increase and remain strong through the next several days. That will result in minor coastal flooding through late-week.
