Global Free Library

Chapter One is a global beginning literacy nonprofit. As part of our mission, we have created an online library of modern, culturally diverse stories that we are making free to the world. The Global Free Library features stories of social justice, including racial equality, gender equality, immigration rights and environmental justice. The Library includes a preeminent collection of stories about Indigenous peoples, authentically written and illustrated by Indigenous authors and artists from around the world.

The Global Free Library has been designed to be a safe place for children to explore. There are no advertisements, no offers for premium content, no use of private information. Each story has been vetted for child appropriateness.

Our stories have been stunningly illustrated to capture the imagination of every child. Here is a place for children to explore and be inspired, either by themselves, or reading together with parents, teachers, friends, and family. And Chapter One is always looking for new authors and illustrators who want to inspire the next generation of avid readers.
