Dear Valley Creek Parents/Guardians,

I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated in our PTA Spirit Night at Handel's. It was wonderful to see so many of you there, supporting our school and enjoying some delicious treats together. Your continued involvement truly makes a difference in our community.

Looking ahead, we have several exciting events coming up:

• Grandparent Lunches: Next week, we invite all grandparents to join their grandchildren for a special lunch. (please see the schedule in the Cougargram for your child’s lunch day) It's a wonderful opportunity for our students to share a meal with their grandparents and create lasting memories.
• Fundraiser Kickoff: We’re excited to launch our Boosterthon fundraiser, which supports important school programs and activities. Keep an eye out for details!
• Coffee with the Principal: Join me for an informal chat over coffee. This is a great opportunity to hear about all of the volunteer opportunities VC has to offer.
• Stay and Play: Our Stay and Play event on 9/20 from 3:20-4:15 will be a fun time for students and parents to relax and enjoy some outdoor activities together at the upper playground. Please remember parents must be in attendance.
• Spirit Night at the MISD Stadium: Mark your calendars for another Spirit Night, this time at the MISD Stadium. Let's show our school spirit and have a great time together.

Hearing, Vision, and Acanthosis Nigricans health screenings for all students of McKinney ISD will be during the first semester of school. Screenings will be conducted September 9th – 13th.

Texas State Law requires that the following students be screened:

Vision and Hearing PK, KG, 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th

All students new to MISD

Acanthosis Nigricans 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th

Please make sure that your child is at school on screening days and please have your child bring any required glasses or contacts to school for health screenings.

If you submitted an application for the 2023-2024 Free and Reduced Lunch Program but have not submitted an application for this school year, your student will be dropped from the program September 21st. We would like to encourage parents to submit an application because there are other benefits for being in the program and also to establish the school year 2025-2026 30-day carryover status, however parents are under no obligation to do so.

Thank you for your compliance and understanding as we follow these district security protocols:

• A valid state or government issued photo ID must be presented each time you visit, volunteer, or pick up a student.
• Please be prepared to present your physical ID upon arrival.
• We are not be able to accept photos of ID's on phones.
• We will not be able to admit anyone to volunteer, visit, or pick up a student that does not present their physical ID.

• A background check is required each school year for people wanting to volunteer in McKinney ISD.
• This includes making copies, PTA events, lunch duty coverage, classroom parties, field trips, and other volunteering that takes place inside and outside our building.
• We encourage all parents and guardians to complete your volunteer application as soon as possible to avoid any delay in the processing.
• Anyone that has not completed a volunteer application and had it approved will not be able to volunteer in any capacity inside or outside of our building.

Monday September 9th - Wednesday September 11th - Grandparents Day Lunches - Save the Date! - Grandparents and Special Friends are invited to have lunch during their student's lunch time. For this busy event we encourage visitors to RSVP for Grandparent Lunches in advance to make the check in process go quicker.

Wednesday September 11th - Patriot Day - Wear red, white, and blue

Friday September 13th - PTA - Fundraiser Kickoff - Information will be sent home about our upcoming Cougar Run.

International Dot Day -We will celebrate International Dot Day today. Staff and students are invited to wear polka dots to celebrate this day of growth mindset and creativity!
