Connected Care is Better Care

CurrentCare is Rhode Island’s Health Information Exchange (HIE):

Connects providers to clinical data
Improves patient care
Saves time

CurrentCare Changes – Planned for April 2025

Click here to find the most up-to-date information about CurrentCare’s transitions to both a new opt-out consent model and a new technology vendor.

How Does CurrentCare Work?

CurrentCare gathers healthcare information from multiple sources and makes it available within a secure, shared network:

    • hospitals
    • laboratories
    • imaging centers
    • primary care physicians
    • specialists
    • skilled nursing facilities
    • and more

Authorized healthcare providers get secure access to their patients’ healthcare information and real-time notifications about hospital encounters. Patients get better, connected care and save time, money and effort.

The Rhode Island Health Information Exchange Act of 2008 contains important privacy and data security protections for all Rhode Islanders. We want you to be as informed as we are: read the full text of the Act.
