Hunt Rd Secondary School needs you:
Advocate for entrepreneurs |Tech &AI innovator| Youth & township empowerment enabler | Public speaker| Business strategist bridging the digital divide |
HUNT RD SECONDARY NEEDS YOU: As some of you may be aware, DigiYouth Africa adopted Hunt Road Secondary School last year. During our most recent visit, we identified areas that require urgent attention due to deteriorating infrastructure: Toilet Shortage: With 667 students, only 4/6 girls' toilets are functional, and educators have access to only 2/4 toilets. The ablution facility houses 4 toilets which are not operational. → We urgently need to fund the repair of the girls', educator and ablution toilets to ensure adequate and hygienic facilities. Deteriorating Prefabs: Caving floors and unsafe conditions in the prefab classrooms pose serious safety hazards for students as they are being held up by bricks!! The prefabs house up to 48 students at any one time and the load bearing on the floors poses a hazard. → We need your support to renovate 9 prefab classrooms. 2 of the 9 prefabs are in dire need of immediate attention. Damaged Building: A building used to house textbooks has suffered roof and interior damage. → We require funding to repair the roof and interior of the building to convert it into a library (which the school does not have) and a work Centre for the school Inadequate Assembly Space: The netball court is used for assembly. The court also serves as a playing field for netball, volleyball, and basketball, requires refurbishment and painting. → We need your support to refurbish the court. Limited Educator Resources: The educators' workroom has only 1 desktop and 1 printer. The workspace lacks cupboards. → We require funding for 6 desktops, 2 printers, cupboards, and 4 sets of chairs and desks. Soccer Field: The soccer team has performed exceptionally well. The fields require regrassing, and new custom goal posts are needed to accommodate field size. → We require funding for field regrassing and new custom goal posts. Educators' Breakaway Room: This room, also used for educator meetings, needs 21 chairs and 7 desks to accommodate staff. → We require funding for 21 chairs and 7 desks to furnish the room. General Maintenance: → To prevent further deterioration, the school needs to be painted, including professional gutter cleaning twice a year to prevent water damage. These issues not only impact the quality of education but also create a hostile and unsafe learning environment for the students and educators at Hunt Road Secondary School. HUNT ROAD NEEDS YOU: We are appealing to the generosity of our LinkedIn community, particularly businesses in the following sectors, to help us: - Construction - Building Materials - Furniture - IT - Sports Equipment and Maintenance - Cleaning Supplies - Maintenance Services Your support, whether through financial contributions, in-kind donations, or by spreading the word, will make a significant difference in the lives of these students. You may make a donation via the link in the comments or alternatively email ayesha@digiyouthafrica.co.za for specific sponsorship.
