Wonderful Company donates 3.6 million halo mandarins on World Hunger Day

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/FOX58) — On World Hunger Day, May 28, 2024, The Wonderful Company donated approximately 3.6 million Wonderful halo mandarins to California Action Partnership of Kern's (CAPK) food bank, to later deliver to other food banks in California.

Gail Gray,Food Solicitor of the California Association of Food Banks said the 11 loads of citrus mandarins will be donated to several food banks from Bakersfield to northern California.

Since 2019, the Wonderful Company has helped donate millions of pounds of Halo mandarins, said Gray.

"Today, we donate 3.6 million Wonderful halo mandarins to the Central Valley. 1.3 million of those Halo mandarins will be donated here, in Kern County," saidDavid Rook, Senior Vice President of Sales of The Wonderful Company.

According to a press release, Wonderful Halos mandarins are a healthy, non-GMO snack with vitamin C.
