Meetings

The Board meets on a quarterly basis. In 2024, meetings were held on January 18th, April 18th, July 18th, and October 17th. For 2025, meeting was held on January 30th and meetings will be held on April 24th, July 24th, and October 23rd.

About the IORAB

The Illinois Opioid Remediation Advisory Board serves as a sub-committee to the Governor's Opioid Prevention and Recovery Steering Committee (Committee).

The Illinois Opioid Remediation Advisory Board makes advisory recommendations to the Committee regarding the use of the 55% of settlement proceeds that are allocated to the Illinois Opioid Remediation Trust Fund (Fund). The funds must be used for forward-looking opioid abatement core strategies to combat the overdose epidemic as established in the Illinois Opioid Allocation Agreement (Agreement). These opioid core abatement strategies align with recommendations in the State Overdose Action Plan (SOAP) pdf a comprehensive, equity-centric outline for combatting the opioid epidemic. The Illinois Opioid Remediation Advisory Board will seek to ensure an equitable allocation of resources to all parts of the State.  Additional information and funding opportunities are available at the Illinois Opioid Settlements Initiative.

The Illinois Department of Human Services, Division of Substance Use Prevention and Recovery (IDHS/SUPR) will be transparent and accountable for using the opioid settlement funds by annually publishing a report of settlement funds received and distributed. The report will be accessible through the IDHS/SUPR IORAB website.

Working Groups

The IORAB has three working groups:

Workforce Development & Infrastructure - Meets on a quarterly basis. For 2025, a meeting had been held January 13th and meetings will be held on April 7th, June 30th and October 6th.

Access & Equity - Meets on a quarterly basis. For 2025, a meeting had been held on January 14th and meetings will be held on April 8th, July 1st and October 7th.

Medical & Research - Meets on a quarterly basis. For 2025, a meeting had been held on January 14th and meetings will be held on April 1st, June 24th and September 30th.

  Reporting Requirements

  The purpose of the Opioid Remediation Advisory Board is to inform the ongoing implementation of the State Overdose Action Plan (SOAP) pdf and recommendations on the use of Fund proceeds. The SOAP's goal is to reduce overdose deaths in Illinois.
