The Power of Baseball Award recognizes an individual, corporation, organization, or local group that embodies the positive character and level of achievement exemplified throughout the game of baseball. Past recipients have been true ambassadors of what it means to be #Nats4Good. HONORING THE WASHINGTON NATIONALS YOUTH BASEBALL ACADEMY CLASS OF 2018 The Academy opened in March 2014 and features an 18,000 square foot “education clubhouse” complete with seven classrooms, a teaching kitchen, multi-purpose training and education space, and three baseball diamonds. The inaugural class of Scholar Athletes began their time at the Academy in fourth grade – working with coaches, classroom coordinators, and mentors to challenge themselves both academically and on the baseball field. In five years, the Scholars grew into exemplary students and gifted athletes armed with tools and skills to carry them into high school, and beyond. We honor these pioneers with the Power of Baseball Award for demonstrating what it means to live the Academy values and blazing a trail for future Scholar Athletes.
