Our Story
Support the Newborn Intensive Care Unit!
The Nebraska Medicine Newborn Intensive Care Unit has been providing specialized care to infants and their families since 1968. The physicians, nurses, and staff in the Nebraska Medicine NICU employ cutting-edge expertise and compassionate patient care to treat those most vulnerable in our community. Nebraska Medicine’s NICU embraces a family-centered environment tailored to supporting the developmental needs of premature infants. Last year, with the funds raised through Giving Day, the NICU purchase a digital scanner to recreate an ill infant’s hand or foot as a physical presence for parents when they are away from their infant. The Nebraska Medicine Newborn Intensive Care Unit hopes to use the funds raised through this year’s Giving Day to buy the supplies needed to provide parents who have suffered infant loss with one set of hand and foot prints as part of their bereavement support. The cost of each set is $50, but the comfort it can provide during profound loss is invaluable.
