MoAD, a contemporary art museum, celebrates Black cultures, ignites challenging conversations, and inspires learning through the global lens of the African Diaspora.


MoAD will temporarily close to the public in 2025 to upgrade our interior spaces and galleries. Due to this extensive work, the museum will be closed from March through September but will continue to host programs and events off-site in collaboration with many of our local partners.

We look forward to welcoming the public back in October 2025 for the opening of our new exhibition, Unbound, and Nexus: SF/Bay Area Black Art Week as part of our 20th Anniversary celebration!

2025 Renovations

Exciting changes are coming to MoAD!

In 2025, we will temporarily close to the public from March through September to renovate and upgrade our interior spaces and galleries. During this period, we’ll continue hosting off-site programs and events in collaboration with our local partners. Join us in October 2025 as we reopen and celebrate our 20th anniversary!
