TREMPEALEAU, Wis. (WKBT) -- Trempealeau County Board member Stacey Klein is pivoting from a U.S. Senate race to a State Senate race.
Klein will challenge Democrat Brad Pfaff to represent Wisconsin's 32nd State Senate District, her campaign announced Monday.
Klein said the following in a campaign statement released Monday night:
"All across Wisconsin, I have been blessed with the chance to meet great families who care deeply about America, about Wisconsin, and about their own communities. I spoke with hardworking business owners who are deeply invested in their respective communities and seek to see that only strengthened. It is with their encouragement that I have decided to focus on this State Senate seat. I look forward to a healthy debate on the issues and taking the concerns of our friends and neighbors to the Wisconsin State Senate.”
She had previously announced her candidacy for Tammy Baldwin's U.S. Senate seat in Sept. 2023 but that was before Eric Hovde joined the race.
Klein's departure ostensibly clears the way for Hovde to battle Baldwin in November's general election.
Klein is a western Wisconsin native who graduated from Arcadia High School. In addition to serving on the county board, Klein is also the secretary for the Trempealeau County Republican Party.
